Sons of thunder by-laws

 

 

SECTION I: Name and Purpose of Club

A. This club shall be known as Sons of Thunder 4 Wheelers.                                                                        

 

B. The purpose of the club shall be to come together in meetings, trail runs, shows , race events and places in foreign lands to utilize our vehicles in exploration and travel of our deserts, forests, and mountains; (places that GOD created for us) to make ourselves and our vehicles available to render aid and assistance in times of emergencies and to show people in need, the love of Jesus Christ.

 

SECTION II: Charter Membership

 

A. Charter Qualifications: Every member must have the use of a four‑wheel drive vehicle, a valid driver's license and insurance.

 

B. Number: The membership shall be as many as God wants it to be.

 

D. New Members: Each prospective new member will be allowed to attend regular meetings and have E-ring privileges for six months. If membership is desired, a membership application must be completed and submitted to the club. Each individual who is accepted by the club for membership must pay the appropriate dues at the time

 

E. Dues: All members pay dues. Dues are $60.00 for new members, which includes: (1) recent news letter, Sons of Thunder T‑shirt, two large stickers, two small stickers (for charter and associate members only), yearly calendar of events, and full E-ring privileges. New member dues are payable within 30 days of acceptance into the club. New members dues will be prorated at six months for the calendar year. Renewal dues are $45.00 and payable by February 1, if not paid within one (1) year the person returns to new member status, and will be dropped from the E-ring.  Returning members will also receive one t-shirt.

 

E. Voting members must attend at least four (4) meetings per calendar year.

 

F. Public/Moral Responsibilities: Each member is expected to uphold and maintain the good name and public image of Sons of Thunder 4 Wheelers. Any member violating this rule in excess will be dealt with accordingly. Problems will be voiced to the Grievance Committee (section III B).

 

 

 

 

 

 

SECTION III: Leadership

 

A. Number: There will be four officers: President, Vice‑President, Secretary and Treasurer. Vice President will be optional. For officer duties see the “Position Responsibilities" form. In addition to the normal officers there will be a Trail Boss, who, either organized the trail or event, or who is appointed by the highest‑ranking officer.

 

B. Grievance Committee: The committee will be comprised of the 4 club officers. Their responsibility is to determine the validity of any grievance voiced by any member.

This committee will decide on the proper course of action for resolving any grievance that is judged to be valid.

 

C. Elections: Nomination for officers will take place at the first regular meeting in November. Elections will be held by E-mail in ballot form or at the Christmas party in December in ballot form. Newly elected officers will assume their responsibilities in January.

 

D. Term: Any elected officer is not limited to the number of terms he or she may run or hold for any office.

 

E. Conditions: All those seeking an office are to have consistent attendance of meetings, make as many runs as possible and must be a charter member for at least 1 year.

 

SECTION IV: Parliamentary Procedure

A. Voting: Voting in changes or ideas will be by member majority at club meetings. Only elections will be held by E-mail or at a meeting in ballot.

 

B. Members are expected to maintain order through out each meeting. To obtain the floor, a member must raise their hand and be recognized by the President or presiding officer. No profanity will be permitted during the meeting or on any outings/events.

 

C. Change of by‑laws: If a change in the by‑laws is needed any member may voice their concern. The Officers of the club will then meet on the subject. Once the officers reach a consensus, the topic will be brought to a vote for the charter members if deemed necessary.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

SECTION V: Member Conduct

A. ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUGS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED.

 

B. Any physical violence or possession of any illegal substance is grounds for immediate dismissal from the club event and termination of membership status.

 

C. All members, and the guests they bring, are to conduct themselves in a manner that is a good witness to others and in brotherly love.

 

C. Any animal(s) brought by a member or guest to a club activity shall be maintained in such a manner as not to present a hazard or other danger to members and their guests. Animals shall be leashed or otherwise contained at ALL times.

 

D. FIREARMS: Conform to existing gun laws. The Trail Boss or whomever he/she designates will supervise all shooting. Persons under the age of eighteen (18) shall not be in possession of a firearm without adult supervision. Check with the Trail Boss before displaying or discharging any firearms. There is to be absolutely no discharging of a firearm in the camp area. Once again, the trail bosses word is FINAL

 

E. ALL MEMBERS, GUESTS, AND PASSENGERS ARE REQUIRED TO READ AND SIGN A LIABILITY WAIVER IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY CLUB ACTIVITY. (Forms will be sent by email before each run or can be obtained from the trail boss at the run)

 

My signature below means I have read the above by‑laws of the Sons of Thunder 4 Wheelers and will abide by them.  I will also ensure that guests I bring to club activities will also abide by the above by‑laws.
